| Introduction : |
The key strength of Singapore’s education system lies in its bilingual policy (English and an official mother tongue). All students learn English and an official mother tongue language . English is the medium of instruction in school. There are over 300 government schools offering a 6-year primary and 4 or 5 years secondary school education.
Foreign students can seek admissions into a primary school from Primary 1 to Primary 5 levels. Upon completion of Primary education, they have to sit for the Primary School Leaving Examination (PSLE).
The Singapore Government Secondary Schools offer the 4 year Express Courses and the 5-year Normal Course. Upon completion of secondary four, students will sit for the ‘O’ level Examinations jointly held by Ministry of Education Singapore in conjunction with University of Cambridge Local Examinations Syndicate.
